Eh, this has been an interesting afternoon.
My dad picked me up at school and we went by Enyo's house so I could drop off her birthday present. She comes out so we can swap manga and oops! locks herself out of her house. Silly E-chan. ^_^ I had actually cleaned out my purse, so i didnt have any paperclips or hair-pins to help her out. So we drove to the main office building thingie to get another key, since she didnt have shoes on and it had just rained... Mini-adventure of sorts, I guess. *shrug*
And then, on the drive home, I'm tired so I'm dozing off, when my dad suddenly starts gibbering. In German. I recognized a word, and very dubiously confirmed what i had just heard. My dad was cussing in german, and it was funny as hell. He was kinda sheepish about it, but defiant, in an embarassed sort of way. I guess it must be liberating to have your kid reach an age where you don't have to check every word you say, and can speak to them on an adult level. Or something like that. At least, he seems to no longer feel obligated to reduce his insults to "dumb-dumb." And my mom wasn't there, so that may also be a factor ^_~. He grinned and said, "i shouldnt be a bad infulence." So i just told him it was in a forgiegn language so its all ok. We then had a ten minute discussion on the connotative and denotative meanings of common curse words, the definition of "curse word" itself, in the traditional sense of the term, and modern yet not-so-old swear words. It was interesting. Then he turned up the radio and i took a nap.
Okees, that's all for now, I'm sure i'll find something to rant about later. I'm in a writing mood. *gasp* maybe i'll finish Ajikeshi!
... or not. I do think i'll tidy it up and bring it with me to the ralley tomorrow. One never knows when inspiration (in the form of ORMY! winged chartruese hippos with pixie sticks) may hit. One must be prepared, after all...
