"We're all mad here. I'm mad, you're mad."
Aieeeya, good good good day! Good because I finally started working on Lucia di Lammermoor *and* I have finally selected a song to perform at the wedding. And I now have Mio Babbino Caro to look forward to in the fall as well! *rejoices* Now if only I can find the vocal score for Mio Babbino. All I can find are trumpet, and trumpets are all well and good, but... they don't really help me altogether that much.
Ma~a, to backtrack a little, I have never attended so many baby showers in my life. I have yet to be enlightened on what purpose they allegedly serve. Granted, they must be useful for something, but I certainly don't see why I have to be dragged along to witness it. Gah.
Mother had her birthday last Saturday. Her favorite presents? A tie between a mini-tool set (complete with a golden hammer) and a knife. She really liked the knife. Almost as much as the tiny little pliers. But I can understand that, the knife was really nice, a lightweight chef's knife, which adds to the points as far as I am concerned. Chef's knives are my favorite. Ever. Well, other than katanas and the like, but as far as kitchen utensils go... Sporks are amusing, but chef's knives are the best. After the cake, we brought out the fruit and tested the present on a watermelon. Good times...
So, back to today. Am currently quite full of water and cinnamon rolls, as well as Broken Saints, MegaTokyo, Kagerou, and Inuyasha fanfiction.
Good news, maybe? Gabbiani-chan has revamped her site layout, thus... possibly... inspiring a certain person to mayhap finish what she started a long time ago... or not. Well, I *am* beginning to feel a little guilty about all the unfinished things I have just sitting around in my hard drive... If I could get my hands on a decent laptop with a wireless modem I might try to work on that en route to Colorado. *Hopes*
And dearest Ashley-chan claims that sessha has inspired her to write a vampire fic! Eh! There's my contribution to this generation, minna. I have *inspired* someone. No pressure to finish that fic or anything, Ashley-chan ^_~
And speaking of ficcies...
Am 85% finished with a fanfic I am writing for E-chan. The idea was that since both of us had seemingly hit a rather impervious writer's block - for quite a long time - we both needed something new to "stir the creative literary juices." Right. So we decided to try writing fanfics of the *other's* work. Ja, so, there's the backdrop, here's the announcement.

E-chan's fanfic is a milestone for my writing because it contains... *drumroll*... my first literary kiss.
...
Really, it's not a big deal at all ^_^; but... it is. Because, when I first started writing I was still in junior high and very naive (granted, i'm *still* naive) and very... Christian. So I would carefully maneuver around using realistic dialogue and replace it with very vague "___ swore/cursed" until I got frustrated enough with it to try some other mild non expletives, but heaven help us if i actually *wrote* one. Feh. Thankfully, years later, I am now (finally) at the point where such ridiculous inhibitions are no longer mine to claim. So, after the rewrites, my characters will be cursing in detail and other such blurred screens will be removed. What does this all have to do with the literary kiss? Not much... but... it does. -_-* Like... where I would normally just avoid the scene altogether and leave any physical aspect of a character's romance to the reader's discretion and imagination, I am now actually *writing* it out. It is utterly ridiculous that I ever limited my writing in such a way, and now that it's getting to where it should be...
...and for that, I'm absurdly proud.
Arama, atashi wa genki, neh?
