1] I was at Barnes and Noble this weekend and caught sight of A Spoon River Anthology, remembered it fondly from Senior English, and thumbed through it.

2] Recently, Sam Starbuck posted a photoessay of sorts of Graceland Cemetary.

It has me wondering.

What would I want on my epitaph?
---
I just read The Historian, which I iked despite having purchased it expecting a tale about libraries and archives (in that I was not disappointed) but definitely not a tale about vampires. Somehow, I missed the bit at the bottom of the cover saying that the remarkable author had "refashioned the vampire myth."

Somehow, reading it makes me want to start a journal, not of daily events so much as a more personal version of this random blog. For my older self? For progeny (hah!)? For an anthropologist one day, puzzling out the thoughts of a twenty first century collegiate hundreds of years ago?

Perhaps I will start it off with my epitaph.
